Early Learning Facilitator – South Westland

WestREAP is excited to further develop and extend our provision of Early Childhood Education opportunities in the South Westland Area with the new role of Early Learning Facilitator – South Westland.  This role involves facilitating the provision of our new Community Innovation Hubs with a focus on Early Childhood Education and activities such as Early Learning Support, Melody Makers, SPACE, Playgroups, Playdays and more from Haast to Harihari. The ideal person for this position will have:

  • Proven expertise in Early Childhood Education and a relevant early childhood qualification.
  • Experience in developing and providing learning initiatives for children, families/whanau.
  • Proven ability to build rapport with a range of ages and groups including Maori and/or families at risk and communities.
  • Well established connections and networks in the South Westland area.
  • Knowledge of Government’s national priorities for education and relevant strategies.
  • Enthusiasm, flexibility, and the ability to be innovative.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Excellent relationship management skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience in programme/activity management.
  • Sound planning, organisational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrable facilitation and leadership skills.
  • A passion for early childhood education.
  • A full driver’s licence.
  • Resident in South Westland

Playgroup Co-ordinator

WestREAP has a vacancy for a fixed term part time (3.5 hours per week during term times) playgroup co-ordinator to run our Friday Fun group (Westland Parent Network & Pipsqueaks Playgroup) in Hokitika until December 2019.  This role involves organising a range of activities and outings for children aged 0 to 6.

The ideal person for this position will have:

  • A passion for educating and engaging children aged 0-6 and their parents/whanau
  • Proven ability to build rapport with a range of ages and groups including Maori and/or families at risk, and communities
  • Enthusiasm, flexibility, and the ability to be innovative
  • Proven administrative skills
  • Ability to liaise and engage with local service providers
  • Sound planning, organisational and time management skills
  • An ECE qualification is preferred but not essential
  • A current First Aid certificate is required
