Early Learning Support – Grey and Westland Communities
WestREAP’s Early Learning Support programme is designed to encourage a culture of learning in the home and assist children and their families in their preparedness for school. Our tutors visit the home with parent/caregiver and child, modelling good literacy and numeracy practice as well as developing soft skills, such as following instructions, self-care and self-management. They also offer personal support in enrolling at an Early Childhood centre and transitioning from Early Childhood education into school.
The central aim of the programme is to increase the educational success of children in our communities by empowering parents and caregivers to take an active role in their child’s learning.
Through engaging and building relationships with families, our tutors support parents and caregivers to extend their own learning and access services and ensure their child has a well-scaffolded beginning to formal education.
